money. where am i?

We tend to be overly anxious and afraid to look at our money, or where the gaps are in our understanding of money.

Fear influences the stories we tell ourselves which are often misleading, masking where we really are with imagined worst-case scenarios. Knowing where you are, on the other hand, brings some peace of mind because it is often much better than you let yourself believe.

Think of it this way:  If you were lost in the woods, would it be better to see an aerial view of the area only to discover you were twelve miles from the closest road, or to wander aimlessly, hoping and praying you will find your way?  Most of us wander aimlessly.

I have a tool for you and your money relationship, that’s like the aerial view. You can take the Wild Money Self-Assessment and see, from a broader level, where you stand with money.

You could be 12 miles from the road like you thought, or you may be closer with a clear direction ahead, or you could be one stream-crossing from where you want to be!

The self-assessment helps gauge six areas: receiving, spending, nurturing (saving), investing, protecting and giving.  Most of us are good at some of these, and there are usually a few areas that need training and/or attention.

It’s not only an aerial view, the assessment is a concrete snapshot of where you are that you can look back on, down the road, and compare how far you’ve come—which feels great.

Pamela did the self-assessment and then filled out the Wild Money mandala that gave her a visual picture of her relationship with money. She laughed out loud at what she saw:

“Look at that!  I have a beautiful and very unbalanced mandala.  I scored a six on the protect questions, and zero on invest and nurture !!  At least I have one part of my financial world in place!  Now I know where to focus my energy.”

Take the self-assessment and let me know how it goes. Will you be surprised by your results like Pamela? Maybe you’ve taken the assessment already in one of my seminars or classes, what’s changed for you?
