Love Letters to Money

For the next several months I will post love letters to money written by students and clients.  There is much to be learned by embracing our relationship with money, and treating it as sacred and worthy of our respect.  Share your own love letters either by commenting below, or by submitting it to info@lunajaffe.com.  We’d love to hear what you have to say!

Dear Money,

Mula. Cash. Green. Gold.

I have taken you for granted, always assuming you’d be there whenever I needed. Even though you do your job, I toss you aside, offer little appreciation or value for how you’ve worked in my life. I snub you in spiritual arrogance and mystical manifestation.

I forgot. I forget.

You are a part of the manifestation. How indifferent I have been with you. How rich my life could be if I appreciated your hard work on my behalf. Rich in creativity, texture, expression and greater manifestation. Come here sweet dollars. How sad you must be to know all that you have done for me and how little I’ve taken care of you.

I am sorry, money.

I had taken you for a cold, hard, indifferent bar of gold that gave me nothing but from which I was warned against in every way.

I was told you would ingratiate yourself into my heart and make me as cold as you. I thought you belonged to the power-hungry white male and so I wanted nothing to do with you. I mistakenly believed that you were only friends to the Mitt Romney’s of the world and that any friendship with you, would make me like the parts of them that cause pain.

Yes, if I befriended you, I would forget my roots, my people, my tribe. I might leave behind the disenfranchised to care for themselves. I’d be a cold-hearted bitch. Ironically, I became that anyway. To you.

It makes me sad to realize how hard you’ve worked, only to receive the crumbs of my attention. I can see now that you have the face of my heart and that together we create a money-world of beauty, of love, of giving, of receiving, of intelligence and of financial sovereignty.

You’ve always been there for me.

I turn to you now in gratitude and love, offering an olive branch. Will you forgive me? Let us walk together now, with my heart and head in the lead and you closer beside me as an integral part of my own wholeness.

Thank you for all you’ve done for me. Thank you for your patience with me. Thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for your graceful power and for never giving up on me. Thanks for waiting for me to grow up a little more.

Take my hand.

Love,

Margie
