professional life

Entrepreneurial from a young age, I created my wearable art company, LunaSilks. Twelve years later, I turned my interest in Jungian sand play therapy into a second business, Dreamtime Designs, which funded my graduate education as a depth psychologist.

I was recruited into the financial services industry over a decade ago, and managed $45M in client assets while working for a major broker/dealer.  In 2010, I left the corporate world to open my own financial planning firm, Lunaria Financial, Ltd., so that I could focus on financial planning and education.  I am the author of the first beautiful book about money: Wild Money: A Creative Journey to Financial Wisdom.

Money is important, personal, tender, and can be downright mystifying.  You deserve to know my professional credentials and experience so you can decide if I’m someone you want to talk to and listen to. Below is a summary of my academic and work experience.

academic

I earned my MA from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 1993, in Jungian based, Depth Psychology.

My BA in Bilingual Education is from University of California, Santa Cruz.

I am a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®).

professional

After a decade of running my wearable art company, I spent 8 years as a financial advisor for a major brokerage firm.

After those years working for a firm that offered very traditional financial services, I was called within myself to create a firm that integrates compassionate guidance, financial wisdom, and a creative spirit into financial planning and money management.

In 2010, I left the major brokerage firm to start Lunaria Financial Ltd, a boutique advisory firm providing holistic money management and financial planning for clients with portfolios ranging from $500k to $10+million. My clients receive clear advice and support to live the life they desire.

the heart of my work

The heart of my work, whether managing million dollar portfolios or teaching my virtual retreats and in-person workshops, is based in my pioneering process that integrates creativity into financial planning. I draw on my experience as a visual artist, entrepreneur, and therapist.

This approach to personal finance honors the unique learning and money management styles of creatives, and in doing so builds financial wisdom and confidence. That is the Wild Money way.

why i love working with women

While I happily work with both men and women, I’m passionately committed to helping women rewrite and re-vision their relationship with money.

I wasn’t born with a money gene… in fact; I thought I was a lost cause, completely and totally out of luck in this department.

I wasn’t taught about money, and muddled my way through, juggling bills and income, and never really understanding the basics of having a solid financial footing.  Then I dared myself to accept that job in financial services, and was shocked to find out that 1) women can learn this stuff, and 2) it’s fun! I have dedicated the past 10 years to helping women build competence while building their net worth.

I focus on woman because we need a place where it’s safe to ask questions, to start at the beginning, to admit our mistakes and to let go of past financial traumas.  We need to develop confidence and financial literacy so that we are prepared to make decisions, and know how and when to take risks.

My approach is creative and emotionally based.  I understand that we carry a great deal of shame around money, and that for many women their relationship with money is complicated, painful, and confusing.  After years of learning about finances through a male dominant lens, I realized that there is another way that honors the feminine and leverages rather than denies creativity.

The work that I do as an author, speaker and teacher is to bring resonant colorful language to the heart of financial planning.

  • I honor your story.
  • I witness your growth.
  • I empower your knowing, so you can dare boldly with your life, not your money.
  • This is money from a woman’s perspective.
